The whole process took FOREVER. I had to wait for Deanie to come home and choose the paint because the last time I did it...well, that bathroom is the ugliest thing I've ever seen. So, no more paint picking outing for me. I tell Deanie what I like and she finds the right color.
This is the first nursery I've been able to decorate. When the lovelies were coming along there was either no money for such things or the rooms in TinyHouse were already occupied by older sibs so, nurseries were not to be had (not that the idea of one wasn't in my head with each baby...)
Now, however, there was time, money, and an empty room!
The first step was nothing more than painting the walls. Of course, Deanie decided that I should also paint the trim and doors so that was awful. But I did it and, as usual, Deanie the designer daughter was right on target.

I will say, however, that I will NOT paint the trim again. Or another room. Or a ceiling (I haven't painted one of those since 1985 and I'm not about to change now). I'm hiring a guy. I mean it.

Painting the wardrobe was not that much fun because it had to be stripped first and I used a liquid, chemical stripper that smelled awful and burned like heck-fire when I got it on my hand which helped me realize my glove had a hole in it. OUCH.
I just kept saying over and over, "This is for Baby M. This is for Baby M," because, seriously, if it hadn't been, I would have quit. Yep, just walked out and said, "Never mind." (I would have said way worse but, perhaps here is not the best place to share the specifics.)
I had a few ideas for some special touches and they, of course, took a lot of time. I'm not the best DIYer. I mean, I get ideas but I'm not the best person to carry out the job. I did it anyway. I found these great cast iron switch plates on Etsy and that sweet crib was given to me by a dear friend.
And then we found these:

I just had to have an old window to hang in the nursery. I HAD to have it. That was a ton of work but I love it! There was sanding and scraping and painting and putting those little thingies in there to hold the panes...

Do y'all see the metal letter M? Deanie found that at Joanna Gaines' shop, Magnolia Market, when she was in Texas for a work trip. We LOVE Chip and Joanna around here. :)

I do have a few more tweaks to make things just right. And I can't decide whether I want shutters, blinds, or Mimi-made curtains on the windows. But I like it so far and Baby M seems quite happy in her room, which is the most important thing. It feels bright, warm, and inviting.
I do feel as though I never quite captured the wall color- it's a vintage mint green. It has an almost 1950s feel to it. Also, you might notice that I did not put anything on the wall over Baby M's crib. It's because I'm scared to death that something would fall off and land on her. I can't risk it, y'all. And that light? It's from her halo. :) I'm joking, it was the sun.
Oh and, what I said about hiring a guy next time? Maybe the time after. It seems I'm about to remodel a bathroom and paint my kitchen cabinets. And put in new counter tops. Pray for me, y'all. Hard.
It's a good thing I held onto those paint ruined clothes.
