#motherhoodisforlife

Y'all know this cutie, right? My Deanie girl?

Well, she cut her hand last week and had to get stitches. STITCHES. The first of the lovelies to ever get them. And I wasn't there.

Why was I not there? Because she's 28 years old (29 next week) and lives eight hours away. That's a long way no matter what's going on.

It makes no difference that she only needed three stitches. The fact is, she needed stitches and I wasn't there. Drummerboy wasn't there either because he's touring. For some reason, that made it worse even though she has about a gazillion friends.

Now, I ask y'all, how is it that, even though she is eight hours away and 28 years old and only needed three stitches and assured me she was fine, I felt that epic mom fail feeling?

Love you my Deanie girl!

Nothing painful should ever happen to our children. No matter how old they are. At least not when we can't be there. Fact is, we should pass a law forbidding them to move more than 20 minutes from us.

Yes, it was only three stitches. Yes, she is fine. Yes, I still wish I had been there.
